SBC’s Student Creativity Festivals celebrate creativity and multiple intelligences. Our mission is to provide experiences that encourage and develop creative thinking and problem solving.

During their day of attendance, students participate in three 55-minute interactive sessions presented by visual and performing artists and professionals from the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Our goal is to expand the students’ scope of where creativity is found and how the creative process is used in a wide variety of professions.

According to a Newsweek article from July 2010, "The Creativity Crisis", creative thinking in America is on the decline and "the potential consequences are sweeping". Developing our students’ creativity is essential.

The Student Creativity Festival 5-7 will take place on November 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2012 at the Science Museum of Minnesota.

The Student Creativity Festival 3-4 will take place on January 15 and 16, 2013 at Ted Mann Concert Hall
(U of M).

  • Students are introduced to positive role models in creative fields.
  • Student concepts of creativity are expanded to include science, technology, visual and performing arts.
  • Students gain positive messages about their own creativity and potential.
