Young Authors Conference

SBC's Young Authors Conference (YAC) gives 4th-8th grade students the opportunity to learn from professionals with real writing experience. At the conference students attend a keynote address and three interactive writing sessions led by local fiction and non-fiction writers, poets, songwriters, playwrights, actors, and illustrators. The presenters encourage and challenge students to become better writers. Students leave YAC with a greater passion to write and a new set of strategies and ideas with which to experiment.

Check out what our May Young Authors Conference keynote, Michael Perry, had to say about the conference!

I would like to extend a sincere thank you for the wonderful experience our students had yesterday at the Young Authors Conference. Once again, your organization spearheaded a great learning opportunity.

Every year that I participate, I am amazed by the organization of such a large event. Every little detail is thoroughly planned. In addition to the writing, the problem solving and independence in having to navigate a large campus, plus, collaborating with kids from all over the Twin Cities, creates an exceptional learning opportunity.

Thanks again!
- Mrs. Jacobson, St. Paul Public Schools
