The "What If" Young Inventors Program involves approximately 7,000 young inventors in the Twin Cities metro area each year.

Third through eigth grade students create original inventions over a multi-month period using a free project-based curriculum that emphasizes the creative process, scientific inquiry skills and problem solving.  Every student has the opportunity to submit an entry form into the YIF evaluation process in February where dozens of volunteers evaluate and write positive feedback to students about their inventions. The top 75 inventors are invited to exhibit their inventions at the Young Inventors Fair in the Best Buy Rotunda at Mall of America on May 5, 2012!

Program support to both students and educators also involves an invention curriculum and student recognition at the annual Young Inventors Fair and other partnership event exhibits.
